Let Us Introduce Our Block Watchers
Do you have a neighbor who has volunteered to be a Block Watcher? That person is helping the Sheriff’s department keep our community safe and secure. Here’s what the Block Watchers do:Block watchers also have the phone number of their Block Captain, to whom they report any crime or incident, after first reporting it to the Sheriff. Both the Block Watcher and the Block Captain keep a log of any activities and these are given to the Security Patrol. This information helps the Security Patrol in its operations.
If you’d like to help out with this part of the Crime Watch program, please register with Dona Fanning, 819-9462. There are brochures from the Sheriff’s Department at the clubhouse, if you would like more information. Please join your neighbors in keeping our community safe and secure. We need you to volunteer! Your help is important to the program and to your neighborhood.
Our Block Captains are on duty.
These folks will keep a log for each village. Remember the procedures for reporting
an incident you may see:
If you see a crime in progress, and it is an emergency,
call 911.
If the situation is not an emergency, call 844-7711. When asked if you want a “call back”, always say “yes.” This means you will get a report on what the police have found.
After you report any incident
to the Sheriff’s Department, please call your Block Captain and give that
person the details of what you have witnessed. This report will be turned over
to the Security Patrol and Deputy Jeff Fichtemaier for their use in targeting
areas that need attention.

"Our Security Patrol has been on duty since December. Look for them and thank your friends for helping keep our neighborhood safe and secure. If you are interested in helping in this way, here are the rules from the Sheriff's Office."
Rules
Security Patrol members cannot have a felony record, or have a serious misdemeanor offense record or criminal traffic record. Minor offenses will be discussed on an individual basis. the Sheriff's Office reserves the right to reject any applicant.
Security Patrol members must wear an identification badge issued by the sheriff's Office while on patrol. this badge shall not be worn while off duty.
Always drive patrol vehicles in a manner that does not impede normal traffic flow.
Hand- held security and flash lights should never be aimed in a manner that will annoy occupants of homes.
Drive patrol vehicles with the headlight on at night. Patrolling with no headlights or parking lights only is prohibited. Obey all laws and speed limits while patrolling.
Avoid set patterns of travel when patrolling your area. Vary your patrol travel and change directions often. Driving the same route each time gives the "Bad guys" a timetable. .
Never attempt police-type action. If you see suspicious activity or a criminal act, call the sheriff's Office. However well-intended, other action could result in serious repercussions. for example, holding a juvenile for a curfew violation may result in a curfew arrest ( a minor violation) but could result in YOUR arrest for false imprisonment-a felony
